Russell Tovey at the Royal Academy of Arts

22 May 2019

We’re back at the Royal Academy of Arts with critically acclaimed British actor Russell Tovey.

To coincide with our exhibition The Renaissance Nude, Russell will read Civilisation, a short story by author Will Self from A Short AffairPin Drop’s anthology of original short fiction, which features new illustrations by artists from the RA Schools.

Russell Tovey is one of the leading actors of his generation. He has starred in award-winning films including The Pass, Pride and Alan Bennett’s, The History Boys, and has had leading roles in major television shows including Looking, Him & Her and Being Human. Tovey also recently starred in Pinter at the Harold Pinter Theatre, and Angels in America at the National Theatre. He is a keen art collector and in 2018 was selected for Apollo’s annual 40 Under 40 in the collector category, and is co-host of the podcast Talk Art – interviewing leading artists, curators and gallerists. The evening will take place in the RA’s new amphitheatre designed by David Chipperfield, where Tovey will be joined after the reading for an interview and audience Q&A.
The event will be followed by a book signing of A Short Affair.
