Andy Burnham PM at Pin Drop

14 July 2015

Pin Drop presented this very special evening at Soho House with Andy Burnham, who was formerly the MP for Leigh and Mayor of Greater Manchester, and now the Prime Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Born in Liverpool and proud Evertonian, Burnham was educated at his local comprehensive in Newton-le-Willows and graduated with a degree in English from Fitzwilliam College at the University of Cambridge, where he developed his love of literature.

Burnham read Election for a Beadle, a satirical short story by Charles Dickens originally published in the Evening Chronicle in July, 1835.  It humorously depicts a chaotic parish election where candidates campaign based solely on the size of their families.  Burnham’s reading was followed by a Q&A with Pin Drop Co-founder, Simon Oldfield.
