The Pindrop Short Story Award

The Pindrop Short Story Award is staged annually by Pindrop Studio in collaboration with major partners.  It is non-profit, open-submission and free to enter, offering a unique platform for emerging and established writers to showcase their short fiction.

The Pindrop Short Story Award, which has partnered with the Royal Academy of Arts for the past four years, has discovered new and exciting writing talent from across the globe.  The judging panel includes Pindrop Founders, Elizabeth Day and Simon Oldfield, and the Royal Academy Art’s Artistic Director, Tim Marlow.  Podcasts of the winning stories by Bethan Roberts, Claire Fuller, Cherise Saywell and Sophie Ward, narrated by Stephen Fry, Juliet Stevenson, Dame Penelope Wilton and Gwendoline Christie, can be found below.

Sophie Ward has won the Pindrop Short Story Award 2018, presented by Gwendoline Christie.
